New Jeep Wrangler looks set for an evolutionary makeover, with our spies catching it during testing

A new Jeep Wrangler is on the way, and our spy photographers have caught it in disguise while testing in Michigan, USA. With the off-roader's silhouette looking very similar to the current model, we're expecting a refreshed look that isn't exactly a total overhaul.
It does appear to be less boxy than the current car, though - with a steeper windscreen and pointier front-end design likely being changed to help with aerodynamics. That will help improve fuel economy and reduce emissions, which will be a key part of the car's redesign.
Jeep has hinted at a hybrid powertrain for the new Wrangler, but it's likely that the main focus will be on a V6 diesel engine that should offer higher fuel economy than before as well as plenty of torque for off-roading.
The Wrangler is likely to be built just as much for tough terrain as ever, with the car's high ride height, chunky off-road tyres and big wheelarches clearly still present on this test car.
The heavy camouflage means it's hard to make out many other changes to the Wrangler's looks, but the front wheelarches do look bigger than before, which could indicate a sleeker front-end look compared to the flat design of today's model.
There are no official details on the next Jeep Wrangler just yet, but we expect it to be revealed in 2017, with a launch later on next year.
